Who could have known that Jordan Fowler would end up like this? Well...his mother knew. But besides that! As he rested beside a heater, he looked up at the ceiling and thought that things could be much worse.
After all, Jordan did this very...stupidly. He took the five thousand dollars and ran off from his hometown in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and flew to London. Of course, the ticket took half his money and within a week, the rest of his money was gone, he had gotten a one-way-ticket, and had not gotten a job like he had expected.
So, after roaming around London for seventeen hours, he spotted an open door leading into the college. So, slipping inside after midnight, he made his way by the heater and settled down for the night in the residency hall.
He was just starting to let his guard down, his heart rate went down, and his eyes started to close, when a voice made him jump out of his skin

"It could be a hallway slumber party!" A young male yelled out from the hall. Luke had decided to take a walk through his residence hall and make sure everything was in order. As director, he had a lot of responsibilities and kids had a habit of breaking dorm policy. Of course, he didn't usually care that they did-- It just looked bad on him and he didn't want to lose his position. He just wanted to make sure no one was sleeping in the hallway or destroying anything outside of their room.
As the dark-haired boy made his announcement in regards to a conversation they had in passing, Luke rolled his eyes. It'd been a long night already, all he wanted to do was go back to his own room. "Good night, Davey." He said in a jokingly annoyed tone that at the same time closed the subject for further discussion. He heard him laugh and then the door shut before he kept walking.
He hadn't made it far when he saw someone huddled against the heater. It wasn't the first time he found someone in the hall, however. There had been a homeless man last semester that tried it and that he had removed. But, this wasn't some scraggly homeless man. He had to be a boy around his age-- In fact, he actually figured he could be a student. Frowning, he walked over.
"Hey, buddy, you can't be sleeping there." His voice was soft, not imposing at all. He didn't want to upset him, or run the person off. Actually, his first instinct was to help him. He'd never been able to let someone that looked like they needed help remain in that state. He'd always been that way-- Since before he could remember.

Jordan looked up at him, his heart still racing from being startled. Flashing a nervous smile, he said "y-y-yeah. Sure, no problem" he stood up and grabbed his duffel bag and walked away. Reminding himself not to run or seem jittery, he turned the corner and stepped back into the shadows to make sure it would be safe before he sat back down again

Luke frowned as he watched the boy start to walk away. He felt a little bad for him, because he just assumed that anybody who tried to sleep in the hallway of a residence hall was probably not too well off. Naturally, he wanted to help. Though, he couldn't just let him stay in the hall where he was. He followed him down the hall, actually about to attempt at asking if he had anywhere to stay. When he saw him slink back into the shadows, he folded his arms.
"Man, do you have a place to sleep?" He asked. It probably wasn't always too smart to try to help out people he didn't even know. But, he really couldn't help himself.

"this seems as good a place as any. If I had any money, I'd offer it to you, ok? But I'm all out. So, please....just...walk away. I'll be gone before anyone wakes up"

Luke shook his head. He couldn't just allow him to sleep in the hall. And his conscience wouldn't let it go without helping him first. "I can't." He replied softly, and not only because he'd be breaking the rules, but because he didn't want to just abandon somebody there. "Look, I've got extra room in my dorm, you can crash there for the night if you want."

Jordan looked at him, stunned "seriously?" he asked, swallowing. Instantly, his mind wondered how much money he'd be able to find in the guy's dorm.

"Yeah, sure. Why not? It's better than sleeping out here." Luke had been told in the past that he was a little naive. He trusted people too easily and cared a little too much. His conscience would spend the entire night beating him up if he didn't show some kindness and help the boy out. So, he kept the offer open, unaware that he might try to rip him off. It wasn't like Luke had a lot to spare anyway. There wasn't a whole lot to steal from him. He only carried about £40.00 on any given day. Everything else was in the bank and he could pull it out whenever he needed. But, he found it was easier to save his money and spend it on necessities when it wasn't burning a hole in his pocket.
And his dorm was simple. He had a few expensive items, but not much. Most college guys didn't have a lot and he wasn't one of them that did. So, that helped him care a little less for his own material items. But, right now, the male looked harmless. He didn't think that he would do anything at all. "I'm Luke, by the way." He decided as an afterthought to introduce himself.

he nodded "Jake" he said. If he did find money, he didn't want Luke to be able to tell the cops his real name. He stood up and smiled a little "I don't know how to thank you" he said with a bashful chuckle. Yes, Jordan could act grateful, but that was really all it was. Acting.

Luke shook his head, "Don't worry about it. It's no big deal." Helping people never had been an issue for him. It was always easy and never put him out. Luke found that the difficulty always was in having to keep from helping somebody. There were situations where he shouldn't and when it was too dangerous to. "It's just down the next hall, come on." He gestured for him to follow. It really couldn't hurt to have him spend the night, right?

Jordan stood up and followed him, looking around "you don't happen to know where I could get a job do you?" even though he really should have thought about that before he left, he supposed it was better late then never

It occurred to Luke that on a general basis, he would tell people not to let strangers into their dorm. Even if they looked nice enough, it was probably wise not to let somebody you couldn't trust inside your room. It would be like going home and opening your door to the first homeless man that crashed on the sidewalk. It was that line of thinking that would have kept him from opening his door back home to anybody. But, to let someone stay the night in his dorm felt okay. He would probably be gone in the morning and he would hope the best for him.
"Depends. What're you looking for?" Luke had plenty of connections in town and he knew how to seek out employment. Of course, he didn't want to give him a suggestion that he might not like. Even if he wasn't in any position to be picky, Luke had options and so he wanted to give them to him. It took only about a minute to get to his dorm and he fished out his key to unlock it and open it up. Once open, he held it there and nodded for him to go in.
