"I don't need to get their attention. I already have it. They worship the ground I dance on" she said as she heard some music from a nearby party and started actually dancing against him

"No, they don't. They just want to get laid, that's all. And you'll give them a tease that other girls won't. It's like fast food. Sleazy, cheap and convenient. Sometimes you crave it, and it helps hold you over until you get home to the real thing." He explained, knowing full well that it sounded harsh. But, he didn't know how else to get through to her. Nobody worshipped her up there! And as she started to dance against him, he grabbed her wrists, but pulled apart a little so that she wasn't against him any more. "Stop it."

"says the guy who's not getting any, fast or not" she remarked "it's still early, Luke. Let's go check out that party"

"You don't know anything." Luke replied quickly. No, he really wasn't getting anything at all. And it was pretty lame. But, he tried not to sound offended by it. Instead, he was distracted by her request to party. "No, I think you've had more than enough excitement for one night." And so had he, for that matter. He had no intention of going to a party. He just wanted to go back to his dorm and keep her out of trouble.

"All I've had is a lame-o brother who doesn't know when to mind his own business" she said, walking towards the house.

"You're my business." She just didn't seem to get it and it frustrated Luke. She couldn't be that ignorant of what she was getting herself into! He was trying to save her from absolute destruction and after tonight, partying wasn't the cure. He didn't want to go and he didn't trust her there. Besides, wouldn't that be like rewarding the bad or something? He followed once more and when he grabbed her arm, his grip was tighter this time. "You're not going in there."

Cara tried to yank her arm away "yes I am" she hissed

Luke's grip didn't falter. Her yanking only made him grip harder and pull her closer. "No, you're not." His voice was firm, not about to let up on it. Somebody had to be there to take care of her. Even if she didn't want him to, he was going to be there. He didn't know how right it was to force help on somebody. But, she was his sister, and sixteen or not, he was going to keep her out of trouble as best as he could. He knew that he didn't have any magical power to keep her from getting herself into trouble, but he was sure as hell going to try to keep her safe.

Cara glared up at him "oh yeah?" she said and stomped on his foot to get him to let go

Luke stifled a hiss through his clenched teeth, but despite the pain, he only gripped harder. If anything, he used the pain to be able to do so. "Damn it," He cursed. Why wouldn't she just give up already? Luke thought he had proved himself beyond stubborn. He gave it all that he had. Even now, when most people would've given up, he still held onto her-- Literally. A part of him wanted to let her go and just to let her go if that was what she really wanted. But, that voice inside reminded him that drug addicts didn't know what they wanted at all. There mind was warped. She was warped.
In an attempt to show his own determination, he pulled her closer to him and grabbed her free arm with his other hand. "Knock it off, already. I'm trying to help you here. Do you want me just to leave you? Let anything happen to you? Someone cares about you and you can't even accept that." He was getting frustrated and he was ready to give up on her and just call up her father and let him know that she was running around London.

"nothing would happen that I don't want it to" she said arrogantly. She seemed to think that she would have complete control of any situation. For a girl who liked to think of herself as street smart, she sure was naive

"Oh yeah," Luke's sarcasm returned to his voice. When most people sounded cold when they used sarcasm, he still never lost that gentle tone. There was still compassion, despite his frustration with her arrogance. Since when did people during a hard time have room to be so cocky? If she was so good on her own, then she would've recognized the risk. "You really look like you can take care of yourself. How're you ever going to protect yourself if you don't think anything can happen? It'll sneak up on you. Then what? I'm not an idiot."
Luke didn't spend his time on the streets and for good reason. While he lived a good life, he knew exactly what went on there. He heard enough horror stories to last him a long time. For a boy that made sure that he didn't wind up in those situations, he certainly had a lot more common sense about it. She didn't know how to survive! All that he saw was a rebellious teenager that didn't want to go home. Even so, he was going to help her through it. He wasn't hard enough to send her right back to their father. Besides, there were no guarantees that she would ever get back there. So, he did the best thing that he could.
